The other day I realized that use a lot of punctuation marks when I type (a huge writing no-no, much like parentheticals).  Well, damn it, I am an excitable person. And nothing gets me more excited than trying new techniques (another no-no, starting sentences with “and”).  Lately I’ve been loving using the black, grey, and water brushes. I also add a very mild color tint in photoshop. 

The top left piece was a super fast one. It is a portrait of Jamie Stewart from the band Xiu Xiu. His music is harrowing and unhinged, so I had a bit of fun with the technique in this one. I got to simulate paper, which was a fun little challenge.

The second piece is just an idea I had, but it reminds me of Mazzy Star, so I’ll go with that. In this one I tried out new hair styling (I love hair!) and worked over the piece with FW liquid acrylics for the constellations. I will definitely incorporate this in the future.
